Brenda EngelBrenda Engel began her professional career as an elementary school art teacher. She has lectured and given workshops on children’s art in both the U.S.A. and England. In addition to articles in various education journals, Brenda Engel has written a number of monographs on educational topics, edited a book of essays on progressive education and written book on looking at children’s art work. Her most recent work, a co- authored, book on children’s play, “Playing for Keeps,” was published in 2010 by Teachers College Press Since retiring from the faculty of Lesley University, Engel has volunteered time in public schools in Boston and Cambridge. Brenda Engel has been a lifelong watercolorist, painting and exhibiting in Cambridge and Block Island, R.I. Her work is represented in a number of private collections in the New England area. She lives with her husband and members of her extended family, in North Cambridge. |
