Brooke tends to photograph his surroundings, preferring to document things as they happen or exist naturally. He will often be found sitting, observing scenes as they unfold. Sometimes, say on a busy street corner things unfold fast and images are captured quickly as the moment develops. Other times events take significant time to unfold, say for example waiting for the drift of a cloud over a mountain top to develop into a shape and reach a location in the scene that rhythmically compliments the mountain range.

Brooke has recently begun making the shift from a traditional darkroom process to a digital darkroom.
Believing that film, especially medium format, still has significant benefits over digital for capturing fine art images, the vast majority of Brooke's work is still created first on film.

Negatives are scanned, evaluated, and printed digitally in most cases.
All images are scanned using high resolution negative scanners to preserve the fine detail of the medium format film and printed using the latest archival pigment inks or in some cases outsourced and printed via digital output to traditional photo paper.
