Eric Gottesman

I am a photography and video artist working mainly in Ethiopia.  I received my MFA from Bard College in 2006.

I will be exhibiting photographs of contemporary Ethiopia printed on traditional Ethiopian gabis or cloths.  I worked with traditional weavers to match the colors and designs of the tibeb (edges of the cloths) to each image.  Each piece (10 feet by 3 feet) is intricately made, a tribute to the complexity of navigating urban and traditional life in Africa.

Also, I'll be showing smaller text/image pieces; and my mother, Jean Gottesman, and sister-in-law, Danielle Benaroche Gottesman, will be showing some of their paintings.
