Joan McCandlish

In the past year I've revisited, in a stripped-down manner, my roots in textile design. Small abstract geometric all-overs and loose grids -- painted in gouache on paper -- contain elements of print design and weaving too. I take pleasure in the fun of them, and play further with their scale and color on the computer. Like objects seen under a microscope or through a telescope, roughly repeating forms bounce off and relate to each other in different ways.
