I am curious about the honesty of nature and the feelings that can be conveyed through the cycle of growth and decay. It is this ordinariness I find beautiful. I use its ability to focus on concepts of vulnerability, trauma, and hope.  I often use the sunflower as my metaphor.

 

Copper plate etching has been my selected media, particularly with the aquatint technique.  The tones of black and white can depict the depths of my emotional responses to nature and maintains the idea of simplicity, truth, and elegance.
